As the second installment of programming with Prof. Murrell, this course polished most of the skills we had learned in previous C++ courses, and expanded our knowledge of different data structures and sorting algorithms. Overall, my approach to programming was finely tuned and sharpened by this course.
This project seemed at first that it would require the pinnacle of programming efforts and abilities; who knew it was just the beginning? "The Map" program entailed reading in a collection of files topographically representative of the continental United States, and creating an inter-weaved grid of objects to maintain the data in a meaningful way. With this setup, we were to then program an algorithm which both found, and plotted the shortest route between any two points of the users choosing.
